So here it is. This blog has been in the back of my mind for about nine months, brewing since the beginning of Spring Training last year. The goal with it is to maintain a Seattle Mariners fan’s point of view throughout the 2008 season and beyond, because I think it’s too easy for people to get bogged down with stats and analysis instead of just enjoying each game for what it is.

The writing here will probably venture away from the Mariners from time to time, but that’ll just liven things up. I’ll hopefully be joined by other writers, as well, just to add a larger variety of voices. We’ll have to see who ends up adding their take.

“Late Summer Swoon” seemed like an especially apt title after the August collapse in 2007. It’s not pessimistic, but it’s certainly not entirely hopeful, either. I think that’s the perfect way to sum up my feelings going into each season.
